Atoms and Molecules


Atoms and molecules are tiny particles of matter. A bunch of atoms make up a molecule. Atoms and molecules or "stuff" make up everything in the universe. Atoms and molecules are always constantly moving. The faster they move the more heat they generate, however, heat energy is also generated  by how many atoms and molecules are in the object. For example, a giant ice sculpture generates more heat than a match. Although, in the match, the molecules are moving faster, the ice sculpture has slower moving molecules, but A LOT more molecules than the match.

Radiation


Radiation is the third and last method of heat transfer. Radiation is the transfer of heat through light, sound, or heat waves. Radiation can be transfered in many examples. First, a microwave uses radiation to heat things because it has light waves. For example, if you put popcorn in the microwave it will heat up and pop. Bluetooth also uses radiation by transfering sound waves into your ear. However, radiation also has some sideaffects. If you look at the microwave while its heating something, all that radiation can transfer to you and give you cancer. If you sit in the sun all day and get too burnt, or too tan, that can cause you skin cancer. Another example for radiation is when you turn on a flashlight. The light rays come out, which is light radiation.

Convection







Convection is the second type of heat transfer. Convection is the transfer of heat through liquids and gases. It is usually transferred through the air. An example of convection is when a person walks outside and feels the wind breeze on his/her face. Also an example of convection is when you are swimming and then you feel a current with warm temperature brush your leg.  In addition to that another form of heat transfer is when steam heats the room. When you open the window at night you feel a breeze on your face. The final example is when you have a warm bowl of rice, oatmeal, etc in your face ,and then a warm up draft of steam or hot air hits your face.

Conduction



Conduction is one of three types of heat transfers. Conduction is a transfer of heat through the contact of two or more objects and one object's heat energy is transferred to the other(s). One example of conduction is when a person puts his/her hand on a stove and burns their hand. Another example of conduction is when you put you hand on the iron when someone is ironing the laundry. Also conduction can be between a car, a stove, and a donkey which is when the car hit the donkey carrying the stove. Then the stove irons the donkey, and then the donkey burns the car. When you are cooking pasta in a pot and you hold on to the handle, that is conduction.  Another example is when you have a waffle iron fall on your hand. The final example is when a flaming cannon ball flies into your face or car.
